    A good Thursday. (30th)

Regular work day for me. Got some good work done on my primary product, working to re-kick older hosts there still.

Also, my team had a culture event where we all logged onto a Minecraft server and played. This is the 2nd one, it’s pretty cool. We had some people hanging out in our Zoom meeting who weren’t interested in Minecraft, so they were visiting each other’s Animal Crossing islands. Cool.

Watched another episode of Agent of Shield, season 5.

Jill tore down our Robotics field that we had set up in the front room. This season, Vex has increased the size of the field, so we need to buy more parts for it.

Took our older son to work, then went to go check out Chuy’s. I had heard they were open for curbside, but unfortunately by the time we got there (10 minutes after 8pm) they were already closed. So we took our business to Las Palapas. Took our to-go food home and ate, then after a bit, went to pick our son up from work.

Once we got back, Jill and I worked on getting the “field elements” from this years’ Robotics game separated into bags.

    Time for bed.

    Work, Muffins, TV, PlayStation

    By Derek | April 29, 2020

    A good Wednesday. (29th)

I need to get better at posting every day.

Regular work day for me. Working on re-kicking some hosts in one of our APAC regions.

    Jill made banana bread muffins.

    They were yummy!

Watched a couple of episodes of Agents of SHIELD, season 5. Haven’t yet seen how $REDACTED saves the team.

Sorry, didn’t want to spoiler it for y’all.

My PlayStation controller came in, so I fired up my borrowed PS4, and proceeded to try out Nathan Drake Uncharted. I started with the first game, played for a bit, then we had to take our older son to work and back.

I got through Chapter 4 before bed.

    Work, Movie, Crunch, Work

    By Derek | April 28, 2020

    A long Tuesday. (28th)

Working today, we’re doing a deploy, so I traded a day from Saturday.

Got our first two regions deployed, then took a break until it’s time for the next one.

Watched Cat Ballou ( https://reelgood.com/movie/cat-ballou-1965 ) in the meantime.

I grabbed a pic of how to make a crunchwrap.

I’ve forgotten where I got it, at this point. Sorry.

Got the rest of the regions deployed, but we were online until about 1:30am.
    Time for bed.

Skipped, Copier, Solar, Documentary, Movie, Pokemon

    By Derek | April 27, 2020

    A good Monday. (27th)

Didn’t write up what I did yesterday. Slept in a bit. Took the family out to play Pokémon for a while.

Today, I got up early to get on a conference call for a customer of mine, they were getting a new copier today, and the engineers needed help getting the shared folders setup.

Jill and I participated in a conference call for the bankruptcy of the two co-owners of the solar company that installed our system. The company is defunct, but it still sounds like they are attempting to help certain customers. Some of their customers are much worse off than we are, at least our system is installed and working. Our only remaining issue is the monitoring never got hooked up. I sent an email off to the bankruptcy lawyer, as he requested, to see if there’s something that can be some with our monitoring.

Watched the Dream Big documentary about engineering on Netflix.

Ate lunch, then watched The Interview. It seemed timely.

Took our older son to work, then stayed in the car and drove around and played a little Pokémon.

Headed home, for a bit, then went back out to pick our older son up again.

    Time for bed.

    Zoom, Robotics, Pokemon

    By Derek | April 25, 2020

    A quiet Saturday. (25th)

Took the day off work, as I need to work Tuesday next week.

Did a Zoom conference with our robotics team, to watch the Vex worlds broadcasts. It unfortunately wasn’t that great.

Played Pokémon for the community day for Abra. They celebrated 4.20 a few days late.

    Pretty quiet day over all.

    Work, Documentary, Explore, Dinner, Movies

    By Derek | April 24, 2020

    A good Friday. (24th)

Regular workday for me. Had to deal with two “emergencies” right off the bat when I walked it. By 4pm, I was exhausted.

Watched the documentary The Need to Grow with Jill. Seems pretty topical right now, with food shortages about to hit hard.

One of my Star Citizen guild mates posted an exploration guide to the Stanton System.

I’ll have to log on at some point and see if I can do it all.

For dinner we went out to Chik-Fil-A, but their drive through line was super, super long, so we ended up getting dinner at Freddy’s.

We came home and Jill and I watched The Banger Sisters, then Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood. Tarantino doesn’t disappoint.

    Bed time.

    Work, Health, Dinner, Movie

    By Derek | April 23, 2020

    A good Thursday. (23rd)

    Regular workday. Performing re-kicks.

Exercised after work. I’m still slackin’ on getting up early, most days.

Took our older son to work, then ate dinner, then brought him back to his house.

Jill and I watched Disney’s The Black Hole after that with our younger son.

    Time for bed.

Work, Niece, Banana Bread, iOS apps

    By Derek | April 22, 2020

    A great Wednesday. (22nd)

Regular work day for me. Learning how to re-kick hosts in my primary product’s infrastructure. Our engineering team changed the process and didn’t fully document it, so today I’ll be taught, and work up some great documentation.

Our niece came over, and brought her kids, they played on the XBox and Switch a bit while I worked.

Jill started making banana bread today, the bananas are ripe enough.

Man, I will say that this whole house arrest thing has apparently been great for iOS developers. I don’t think a day goes by without me having at least 5-10 app updates, and many days are much more than that. Today, I have 32. Now, of course, I have ~425 apps installed. But still, that’s nearly 10% of my apps.

After our niece left, I took our older son to work today, and Jill stayed home to keep working on the banana bread. I had a little before I left, and also took a loaf with me to give to our BBQ joint owner friend.

After our older son got off work, we took him home, and then I got to exercise, then we went to bed.

Slept, Health, TV, Spyro, Star Citizen

    By Derek | April 21, 2020

    A good Tuesday. (21st)

    Slept in a bit.

Exercised first thing, though. Watched Phineas and Ferb with our younger son.

Went to pick up lunch at our favorite local BBQ joint. Got a single meat plate with double green salad on the side. brought it home to eat, we’re still on house arrest.

After lunch, Jill went to Tractor Supply to pick up a few gardening things.

Our younger son and I stayed home, and started on the Spyro Trilogy on Switch that I bought on sale a few days ago. It’s pretty fun, I competed on level 100% with his help. Getting the egg from the egg thief was the hardest part.

Worked in my office today, still working on cleaning.

Took our older son to work, then came home and ate dinner, then Jill went to work in the kitchen. I left to take our older son home from work.

RSI released Star Citizen Alpha 3.9 patch to PTU Wave 1 (subscribers) this evening, so I patched it and jumped on. They’ve added a couple of new mechanics, including outside temperature affecting the character, food, drink, and hunger and thirst, a new landing zone on one of the planets, as well as moons around that planet to explore. In addition, they’ve also added criminal fines for some crimes, as well as an entire prison system, if you get caught doing crime (or die near police forces, you’ll respawn in prison). Prison is like a mini game though, you can work off your time, just wait, etc.

    Slept, PC, Fruit, Star Citizen

    By Derek | April 20, 2020

    420. (20th)

Slept in again. It’s getting to be a habit.

Jill squeezed a ton of lemons and oranges today. She got over a gallon of orange juice. She worked on it for hours and hours, though. All we have is a small manual juicer.

Finished working on the PC I was building for my older son. Scrounged up a keyboard and mouse, as well as all the cables & a monitor that he’ll need.

Dropped it off with him after I took him home after work.

Played Star Citizen with some guild mates for several hours before we went to bed.
